Proposal of methodology of external annual dose calculation in radiometric data acquisition in hemodynamics rooms

The radiological survey in a cardiac diagnostic room shows a very peculiar situation when compared to any other modality of X ray rooms. The two way to irradiate the patient (fluoroscopy and cineangiography), the so many positions possible to reach with the tube-image intensifier arc and the near patient permanence of the medical staff offer altogether some restrictions to the current method of calculating the annual external dose. It is proposed a specific method to acquire the data and to calculate the external dose in cardiac diagnostic rooms. This method is supposed to be more realistic than the usual one, because it takes into account the two modes of irradiating the patient as well as the four main positions of the arc. The workload is also obtained in an easier way, without any guess. (author)
