Transformation of Langmuir waves for oblique incidence on the ionization front

  • 1. Gor'kovskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ. (USSR)

Description

Problem of the Langmuir wave oblique incidence on the ionization front moving in a background plasma with V velocity being well above the thermal one, for plasma electrons vsub(T) (α=vsub(T)/V<<1) is under discussion. Amplitudes of secondary plasma waves behind the front are calculated with an accuracy up to members of the order α2 as well as coefficients of transformation into electromagnetic waves (including the static periodic magnetic field). Peculiarities of luminescence Langmuir waves in form of electromagnetic ones on a moving ionization front are discussed as compared to the case of motionless boundary. Energetic relations for wave packets are considered. It is shown that effective dissipation of wave energy, connected with transmission of translation motion both to background electrons and to electrons produced on a front may occur on an ionization front
