Use of nuclear analytical methods in occupational medicine

Description

Information is presented on the goals and orientation of the international research programme coordinated by the International Atomic Energy Agency on the use of nuclear analytical methods in occupational medicine, which was implemented in the years 1982-1986. The advantages are listed of the use of nuclear analytical methods and the thresholds of determination of elements are compared. Briefly characterized are the research projects implemented in 13 participating countries and the major results obtained are summed up. Special attention is paid to the use of neutron activation analysis for determining Cd and Zn in the tissues of persons exposed to toxic Cd in their working and living environment - a problem which was studied at UJV Rez, Czechoslovakia.
