Studies on ignition target and reactor in ICF research
Description
This paper describes studies on the design of ignition targets directly driven by a short-wavelength laser system and nuclear analysis of an ICF test facility. In the direct driven mode using a high-aspect-ratio target, high neutron yields were achieved in the recent implosion experiments. The one-dimensional computer simulations show good agreements with the experiments and the possibility of achievement of the breakeven by using the 100kJ-class laser of 0.35μm-wavelength. A concept of ICF test facility is shown, where the pellet gain is about 10
