Separation of fission rare gases from off-gases in nuclear facilities by low temperature distillation

Description

In view of its 85Kr content, the Kr contained in the off-gas generated in a fuel reprocessing plant must be removed in order to reduce the activity carried by the gas released into the atmosphere. This can be achieved by low temperature distillation. The Xe which is also contained in the off-gas may be considered inactive. If this Xe is removed by adsorption before the distillation step, the part of the facility which carries highly concentrated active media can be designed relatively simply. (orig.)
