Realization of the regime of quasi-stationary fusion with high plasma density

Description

A problem of stable plasma filament in tokamaks with a strong magnetic field and high plasma density, operating at a low-temperature branch of the ignition curve, is analysed. Numeric one-dimensional calculations of plasma parameter changes both for non-stabilized filament and for its stabilization by feedback with introduction of an additional heating, modulated in time, are performed. The feedback in the model is provided by neutron irradiation power and by the rate of its change. In this case devices for additional plasma heating are considered to be inertiless. It is shown that a stable regime of plasma thermonuclear filament under the conditions considered is realized only in the case of strong dependence of energy retention mean time τE on the plasma temperature T (τE∼Tm, where m<-2). The feedback can be realized by a relay operation mode of the additional heating source
