Decommissioning of a nuclear power plant - a radiation protection problem solved
Description
Activity inventory remaining after a closure is spatially concentrated and can be dismounted manually owing to low equivalent dose rate. Collective radiation exposure of staff remain low. For optimizing radiation protection and reducing radioactive masses, dismantling and methods for remote control, waste packaging, decontamination for disposal and measurements for decision-taking have to be improved. Developing licensing values for clearance and clearance procedures oriented to practice would be particularly advantageous. (DG)

Das nach der Stillegung verbliebene Aktivitaetsinventar liegt in raeumlich konzentrierter Form vor und kann infolge der niedrigen Aequivalent-Dosisleistung manuell demontiert werden. Die kollektive Strahlenexposition des Personals bleibt niedrig. Zur Optimierung des Strahlenschutzes und Reduktion der radioaktiven Massen muessen die Demontageablaeufe und die Techniken zur Fernbedienung, Abfallverpackung, Freidekontamination und Entscheidungsmessung verbessert werden. Von besonderem Vorteil waere die Entwicklung praxisnaher Genehmigungswerte fuer die Freigabe und Freigabeprozeduren. (DG)Additional details
