Description

This paper gives an overview of materials corrosion in fast reactor environments. The focus is on fast reactors using liquid metals as heat removal fluids, in particular liquid sodium and lead / lead-bismuth. This overview recalls parameters affecting materials corrosion and highlights materials corrosion mechanism and corrosion rate. Moreover, the impact of the liquid metal on the mechanical properties of materials will be also summarized. Finally, corrosion mitigation options will be briefly discussed. (author)
