Absorption spectra of interstellar grains. Part 3. On the origin of the ''2200'' hump

  • 1. Uniwersytet Mikolaja Kopernika, Torun (Poland)

Description

Relations between extreme UV extinction and the ''2200''hump intensity are analyzed for individual associations. No correlations are observed in opposite to very clear dependence of the ''2200'' hump strength on Esub(B-V). We interprete this fact as the result of the presence of bimodal grain distribution. The ''2200'' hump seems to originate in big (coremantle) rather than in small (bare) particles. (author)
