Description
18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) is a well-established diagnostic tool in oncology. Recent studies have show that 18F-FDG PET also is a promising modality in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with a variety of infectious and inflammatory disorders. This article expound that reasonable mechanism of the accumulation of 18F-FDG in infectious and inflammatory disorders, and the application and progress of 18F-FDG PET in infection and inflammation.
