Radioecological analysis support system (RECASS), input/output data processing. Creating, manipulation and visualisation of the multidimensional dynamic stochastic fields

Description

The paper focuses on one of the components of the RadioEcological Analysis Support System (RECASS), namely the GRID sub-system designed for representing time and space changes in the radiological situation (RS) on the contaminated areas. For assessment and prediction of RS both statistical analysis of measurements and modelling of dispersion of radioactive materials in the environment are used. Data on radiological and meteomeasurements required for this purpose and results of modelling calculations are presented in the same format, which makes it flexible and allows it to be developed as a module system. Data are presented as multidimensional dynamic stochastic fields. These fields are generated and saved as a sum of finite elements, each of which is a minimum parabola (a definition domain is rectangular, defined by the nodes of the grid which has an ordinary scale on each geographical coordinate). GRID is related to other components of RECASS: the GIS and the database of measurements and meteorological data. This makes it possible to pick out data pertaining to a specific object - an area or populated point. Using these data, a semicorrelation function and correlation radius are calculated which are required for interpolation of values in grid nodes. This approach allows calculation of integral characteristics of contamination and their uncertainties. It also helps in making decisions about additional survey of the area. The paper discusses an algorithm for selecting an optimal strategy for this procedure. (Author)
