Description
Relativistic theories of nucleons interacting with mesons have been remarkably successful in providing a phenomenological microscopic description of nuclear matter and closed-shell nuclei. A simple, physically motivated, modification of the usual Chin-Walecka renormalization prescription is shown to lead to a considerable improvement in the value of the compression modulus of nuclear matter in the relativistic Hartree approximation to quantum hadrodynamics
