The achievements and the development of the nuclear energy in the Islamic Republic of Iran

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) is working in a number of different fields of nuclear science and technology. The main effort is dedicated to the project of completion of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. The first unit of this plant will have a Pressurized Water Reactor of 1000 Mwe. The recovery of uranium deposit in central Iran and the implementation of the necessary installations is pursued to lay down the bases for development of Yellow Cake Technology. Several type of research reactors from zero power to 5 MW are used for production of radioisotopes and research. One electron accelerator and one redeuteron accelerator are in operation for production of radiophannaceuticals and industrial application. AEOI is also working in the field of different kind of lasers, irradiation of food, radiation protection dosimentry and many other subjects.
