Description
The use of neutron monitors to check the operating behaviour of PUREX process plant was examined on extraction columns of the PUTE plutonium test plant. There is a report on the installation of the counter tube and the behaviour of the monitors during operation of the column (counter tube, measurig electronics, processing the measured values). The Pu concentration along a column can be roughly estimated by the operator from the measured counting rates. The Pu profile is correctly shown. Experience gained from faults on the measuring electronics and in collecting measurements led to improvements which have been implemented in neutron measurements on various process equipments of the Wackersdorf reprocessing plant. The operators of the plant therefore have an important additional source of on-line process information available to them. (RB)
Abstract (German)
Der Einsatz von Neutronenmonitoren zur Kontrolle des Betriebsverhaltens von Purex-Prozessanlagen wurde an Extraktionskolonnen der Plutoniumtestanlage PUTE untersucht. Es wird berichtet ueber die Installation der Zaehlrohre und ueber das Verhalten der Monitore waehrend des Betriebs der Kolonnen (Zaehlrohr, Messelektronik, Messwertverarbeitung). Die Pu-Konzentration entlang einer Kolonne kann anhand der gemessenen Zaehlraten vom Operateur grob abgeschaetzt werden. Das Pu-Profil wird richtig wiedergegeben. Erfahrungen, die mit Stoerungen der Messelektronik und bei der Messwerterfassung gemacht wurden, fuehrten zu Verbesserungen, die bereits bei Neutronenmessungen an verschiedenen Prozessapparaten der WAK zum Einsatz kamen. Den Anlagenfahrern steht damit eine wichtige zusaetzliche on-line Prozessinformation zur Verfuegung. (RB)Additional details
