Study of multiple pion production reactions at the VEPP-2M storage ring using a cryogenic magnetic detector

Description

The cross sections for the processes e+e-→π+π-π+π- and e+e-→π+π-π+π-π0 have been measured in the energy range 2E = 1019--1403 MeV with the cryogenic magnetic detector (CMD) at the VEPP-2M electron-positron storage ring. The limit B(phi→π+π-π+π-π0)<1.5 x 10-4 has been obtained at the 95% confidence level. At the energy 2E = 1403 MeV, the cross section σ = 0.26 +- 0.12 nb for the reaction e+e-→π+π-π+π-π0π0 has been measured, and a limit σ<45 pb on the cross section for e+e-→π+π-π+π-π+π- has been obtained at the 95% confidence level
