Investigation of neutral products of CO+ charge exchange on atoms and simple molecules

  • 1. AN SSSR, Chernogolovka. Otdelenie Inst. Khimicheskoj Fiziki

Description

Using a device for studying neutral products of charge exchange relative cross sections, changes in translation energy, and excitation rate of CO-product molecules of CO+ change excharge on Kr, Ar, Xe, CO, NO, O2, N2O and C2H4 are determined. It is established, that in most cases no changes in translation energy of charge-exchange products take place, i.e. the processes studied proceed via the channels, corresponding to the random resonance condition. The results obtained can be explained in the framework of a presentation that the probability of this or that charge exchange channel is mainly determined by the Franck-Condon factor of the respective process of neutralization-ionization of reacting particles. For certain processes calculations of the absolute cross sections in the framework of the Rapp-Francis model with account of the Franck-Condon factors of the corresponding transitions are made, and the distributions of CO neutral molecules over electron-vibrational levels are evaluated. The calculation results agree well with the experiment
