Monte Carlo renormalization-group studies of two-dimensional melting

  • 1. Department of Mathematics, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey 08903

Description

We present two methods for applying the Monte Carlo renormalization-group (MCRG) method to the study of the melting of a two-dimensional particle system. We also perform a MCRG analysis of the Halperin-Nelson melting model. The results of our simulations confirm the picture of the renormalization properties of this system derived from small-dislocation-fugacity expansions
