Description
The cryogenic system of Japanese tokamak JT-60SA shall be able to cool the superconducting magnets at 4.4 K and handle the high variable heat loads during plasma operation. Experimentally validating pulsed load operation on a scaled down loop is of interest in view of an efficient and safe operation of the large cryogenic installation. The test facility HELIOS in CEA Grenoble offers different operating conditions to test pulsed loads on a forced flow supercritical helium loop: isobaric and isochoric configurations have been experimentally tested and compared with representative JT-60SA pulsed loads.
