Description
Objective: To investigate the changes and clinical value of serum tumor markers of CYFRA21-1, SCC and CEA in esophageal carcinoma before and after radiotherapy. Methods: We selected 65 patients with esophageal cancer as the observation group, who were treated by radiotherapy in our hospital from December 2012 to January 2014. Serum levels of SCC, CYFRA21-1 and CEA were detected before and after chemotherapy, and compared with 65 healthy subjects (control group). Results: Before radiotherapy, the serum levels of CYFRA21-1, SCC and CEA were significantly higher in the observation group than that in the control group (P < 0.05). After radiotherapy, the levels of tumor markers in the observation group were significantly decreased when compared with those before chemotherapy (P < 0.05), Although the values were higher than that in the control group, the difference was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). The effective rate and disease control rate of the patients with the downtrend change of tumor markers were significantly higher than those in the rising trend group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The levels of tumor markers of SCC, CEA and CYFRA21-1 can be used as an important indicator for clinical diagnosis of esophageal cancer, and it is helpful to evaluate the prognosis of esophageal cancer.
