Precise measurement of the branching fraction for the decay tau→ν/sub tau/π

Description

A sample of events from the process e+e-→tau+tau- observed with the MAC detector operating at the SLAC storage ring PEP is used for a precise measurement of B/sub π/, the branching fraction for the decay tau→ν/sub tau/π. The result B/sub π/ = 0.107 +- 0.005 +- 0.008 is obtained from a sample of events with 798 identified pions
