Description
Alpha particle induced reactions on the cobalt were studied up to 80 MeV using stacked foil activation technique and Ge(Li) gamma ray spectroscopy method. Eight excitation functions were measured for the formation of reaction residues 61 Cu, 60 Co, 59 Fe, 58 Co, 57 Co, 56 Co, 54 Mn and 52 Mn. The experimental results were compared with calculations considering equilibrium as well as preequilibrium hybrid and index models using initial configuration n0 = (4p0h). In general, in most of the cases the shapes of the excitation functions were fairly well reproduced with the model predictions while for (α,2pn) and (α,α3n) reactions pronounced plateau was observed. The absolute values of (α,xnyp) reactions are agreeing within a factor of four, while for (α,xnypzα) reactions the agreement is within an order of magnitude. However, the emission of α-particle is treated purely as an equilibrium process in the codes. (author)
