Problems are discussed of future operation of the Soviet NPPs, built in the former USSR and abroad. The main attention is paid to the problem of safety and reliability of the WWER and RBMK type reactors, which produce 13% of all electric power in the USSR. Different project for increasing the soviet NPP safety are considered
