Study on two-phase swirling flow in a gas-liquid separator
- 1. Kobe Univ., Graduate School of Engineering, Kobe, Hyogo (Japan)
Description
Improvement of steam separators in ABWR is required to decrease pressure drops at high steam qualities without degrading the separation performance. In this study, shapes of the swirler and 1st pick-off ring (POR) were modified to reduce the pressure drop, and experiments using a one-fifth scale model of the separator were carried out to evaluate its performance. Experimental data showed that the modifications successfully reduce the pressure drop and carry-under (CU) in the separator without degrading the separation performance. (author)
