Neutron capture cross section of 57Fe

  • 1. Australian Atomic Energy Commission Research Establishment, Lucas Heights
  • 2. James Cook Univ. of North Queensland, Townsville (Australia)
  • 3. Oak Ridge National Lab., TN (USA)

Description

The neutron capture cross section of 57Fe has been measured with 0.2% energy resolution from 2.5 to 200 keV. s-wave resonances are fitted in a two channel multi-level analysis of the elastic and inelastic scattering cross sections. A correlation is observed between the s-wave reduced neutron widths and the corresponding radiative widths, which is consistent with the expected valence component
