Description
The analytical performance of seven available gamma analysis software packages in radiometrics laboratory of the Atomic Energy Commission of Syria (AECS) has been compared. The comparison includes, full energy peak position, precision and accuracy of the peak-area calculations and deconvolution performance of the multiple peaks; nine test spectra mathematically produced by the IAEA known as G series (1100-1400) were used for this purpose. A utility function that takes into account the accuracy of peak intensities and peak positions has been suggested and applied to the output of each gamma analysis package. The obtained results were used to rank the studied software packages according to their analytical performance as shown Table 1. (author)
