On-line Moessbauer effect and recoil effects

Description

On-line Moessbauer experiments were performed using the reactions 56Fe(n,γ)57Fe and 177Hf(n,γ)178Hf respectively populating the resonance levels 14.4keV 3/2+ in 57Fe and 93keV 2+ in 178Hf. Experiments were performed with iron and hafnium pure metals, Fe-Al and Ni-Fe substitution alloys and Fe-Ge covalence alloys and a complex molecule (iron acetylacetonate). The on-line experiments are as precise as conventional Moessbauer experiments but the recoil effects that follow the neutron capture cannot be cancelled

Abstract (French)

On a realise des experiences d'effet Moessbauer en ligne par reaction 56Fe(n,γ)57Fe et 177Hf(n,γ)178Hf peuplant respectivement les niveaux resonnants 3/2+ a 14,4keV de 57Fe et 2+ a 93keV de 178Hf. Les experiences ont ete faites sur les metaux purs fer et hafnium, sur les alliages de substitution Fe-Al et Ni-Fe, sur les alliages a caracteres covalents Fe-Ge et sur une molecule complexe (l'acetylacetonate de fer). Les experiences en ligne sont aussi precises que les experiences d'effet Moessbauer classiques mais on ne peut se soustraire aux effets de recul qui suivent la capture neutronique
