Both the apparent and the actual absorption of amino acids was determined in three pigs with a body weight of 50 kp by inserting re-entrant cannulas at the upper portion as well as at the lower portion of the small intestine. The test ration contained 15N-labelled dried curds. The content of nitrogen and of amino acids as well as the excess 15N in the amino acids were determined in food and chyme. From these data the actual intestinal absorption of amino acids was calculated. (author)
