Possibility to use comparison electrodes with oxygen constant activity for determination of oxidation degree of iron melts
Description
A method of electromotive forces with a solid electrolyte was used to determine oxygen activity in iron base melts. The true and medium ion transfer numbers of solid electrolyte on the basis of ZrO2 at 1873 and 1973 K, using air and Cr+Cr2O3 mixture as reference electrodes were calculated. Cr+Cr2O3 was shown to be impractical as reference electrode under the given conditions of the experiment
