Use of a 12 cm dia. Nozzle for argon Z-pinches

  • 1. Alameda Applied Sciences, Inc., San Leandro (United States)

Description

The X-ray output of an argon Z-pinch as a function of the radial gas distribution is measured. The tests utilized a large 12 cm diameter double-shell nozzle. The paper demonstrates that the K-shell yield has a broad optimum as the mass distribution becomes more peaked near the axis. Very high-quality K-emitting volumes were achieved
