Elastic anisotropy effect on void growth in irradiated cubic crystals

  • 1. Leningradskij Politekhnicheskij Inst., Leningrad (USSR)

Description

A study was made on the effect of elastic anisotropy of cubic symmetry crystals on void growth under irradiation. Elastic interaction of vacancies and interstitials with spherical void was taken into account to derive expressions for their stationary concentrations, as well as the rate of void diffusion growth. It is shown that void formation is preferable with respect to interstitials in crystals with negative anisotropy parameter, and in crystals with positive parameter -with respect to vacancies. Qualitative correletion of results with experimental data was conducted. It enabled to conclude that correlation of tendency to void formation under irradiation with elastic anisotropy parameter was observed for some metals and alloys
