Superconducting single crystal growth of BiSrCaCU2Oy

  • 1. Seoul National Univ. (Republic of Korea). Coll. of Natural Sciences

Description

Superconducting BiSrCaCu2Oy single crystal was grown using CuO as flux. The cooling rate was 2.5 deg C/hr and the temperature gradient was 20 deg C/cm inside the furnace respectively. The X-ray rotation photograph indicates that single crystal belongs to orthorhombic system with lattice constants of a=3.786(2)A, b=3.282(5)A c=24.572(5)A and the possible space group is Imm2 or I222. From the temperature to 70K and the critical temperature was 62K. The electrical resistivity along the c-axis was larger than that of along the a-axis is shown. (Author)
