Recent developments in cosmology
Description
Important observational developments in the last decade have much enlarged the scope of cosmological studies. Previously, the interest of many theorists was centred on the overall geometry of the universe – and particularly on the models given by the theory of general relativity or by the steady state theory – but there seemed little prospect of testing which, if any, of these models was the correct one.
