Estimation of space charge limiting current in a compact isochronous cyclotron

  • 1. Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Kolkata (India)

Description

Accelerator complexes consisting of two or three cyclotrons, a main ring cyclotron booster, a separated sector intermediate cyclotron and one or more compact isochronous cyclotron as injector, have been proposed by many workers to deliver 10 mA, 1 GeV proton beam as needed by the Energy Amplifier. The motivation of our present study is to maximize the space charge limiting current and to make projections as to how to achieve this in a low energy radial sector compact isochronous cyclotron
