Method of solidifying TRU waste

Description

Upon solidifying TRU (transuranium elements) wastes, TRUs are once converted into carbonates and then solidified by using inorganic solidifying material at high pH value. Sodium carbonate is used, for example, as the reagent for forming carbonates and cement glass, etc. are used as the inorganic solidifying material. By the conversion of TRUs into carbonate, they are rendered insoluble and less leaching into water. In addition, by the use of solidification material at high pH, TRV carbonates can be stabilized to suppress the leaching of TRUs from the solidification products into water more effectively. (H.R.)
