Description

The behaviour of one particular tube bundle in the four span horizontal tube test facility constructed at the University of Ottawa is reported. While numerous tube vibration measurements have been taken only those readings taken mid-way along the liquid inlet span are presented. Data is presented for two tubes only, one located at the region where liquid enters the bundle and the other located mid-way through the bundle. The response of tubes of the bundle as constructed is examined, as are the effects on tube behaviour of locating a special type of grid in the liquid inlet region. Also looked at are the effects on tube response of generating a clearance between tubes and baffle plates by removing 0-rings which supported the tubes in the baffle plates of the bundle as constructed. These latter tests were performed without any grid in the liquid inlet region. (U.K.)
