Selecting terrestrial reference organisms for assessment of radiation impact on non-human species in the area near a nuclear installation

Description
This paper introduces the purpose and criteria of developing a systematic reference organisms in assessing radiation impact on non-human species, selects different terrestrial reference organisms according to the ecological characteristics of the area near a nuclear installation in northeastern China. In order to offer data for estimating radiation dose of non-human species, a set of values is provided to describe the biological characteristics of exposed individuals. Finally, suggestions are made in the field of protecting non-human species. (authors)
