Relationship between wind energy production and temperature over the November 2010-February 2011 period

Description

As consumption peaks occur during the coldest periods between November and February, the author used some data published by RTE to assess the wind energy share during these periods. The author comments the wind energy daily production data with respect to daily average temperatures measured on a given site. As there is no wind when the weather is very cold, it appears that this renewable energy will not help France to face the challenge of future winter peaks. On the other hand, wind energy production is higher when electricity demand is lower. Therefore, he concludes that the management of the production-consumption balance will become more difficult as the installed wind energy power will increase
