Restructured standard technical specification

Description

Current standard technical specifications include not only those requirements derived from the analyses and evaluation included in the safety analysis report but also essentially all other regulatory requirements governing the operation of nuclear power reactors. The extensive use of technical specification is due in part to a lack of the well defined criteria for what should be included in Technical Specification. The new criteria for specification is set forth by regulatory and new format has been developed to reflect human factor principles. The restructured standard technical specification will result in an improvement in the safety of nuclear power plants through the development of more operator-oriented technical specification, improved specification bases, reduced action statement induced plant transients, and more efficient use of regulatory and industry resources. On this paper the new criteria and results of the application of the new criteria to current standard technical specification along with description of the new format is described
