Minimization of photomemory effect when measuring x-ray fluxes in computerized tomography
Creators
Description
In computerized X-ray tomography (CXT) the conversion of X-ray flux intensity into digital signal is realized with the help of multilink channel that usually has a radiation detector logarithmator, integrator, analog-to-digital converter and other auxiliary systems. As proceeds from practice the input element of this conversion chain is of the most essential. The highest disturbances may be conditioned by the effect of detector photomemory under the conditions of sharp drops of intensity by 2-3 order during 10-100 msec, characteristic for CXT. Analyzed are possibility of the decrease of this effect during measurements by scintillation detectors used in many variants of X-ray tomographs. For practical realization of considered methods of correction, the storage of data file in the computer memory, characterizing partial currends of photomemory of the each detector and program for processing of ''raw data'' arriving in the computer in the process of scanning, is necessary. The propoased approch to the problem solution does not exclude the possibility of simultaneous use of purely technical means of minimization of photomemory effect, for example, of compensating wedges, put at the beam boundary. It may be also useful for tomographical systems with semiconductor detectors which probably in the future will be of wide application in CXT
