Validation of the computer calculation method from the measures of neutron flux distribution and reactivity of IEA-R1 reactor with a new fuel element 130

Description
The thermal neutron flux and core reactivity were measured when a new fuel element (number 130) was inserted into the IEA-R1 reactor core. The thermal neutron flux distribution was measured by gold activation foil (bare and covered with Cadmium) in the fuel element number 130, and the core reactivity gain due a new fuel element was determined using control rod calibration curve. The experimental results were compared to those obtained by CITATION code calculation. The results presented in this work are a good contribution for a better knowledge of IEA-R1 reactor neutronic behaviour. (author)

O fluxo de neutrons termicos e a reatividade do nucleo foram medidos quando da insercao do novo elemento combustivel (N. 130) no nucleo do reator IEA-R1. A distribuicao de fluxo foi medida pela ativacao de folhas de ouro (nuas e cobertos com camdmio) no elemento combustivel n. 130 e o ganho de reatividade do nucleo, devido ao novo elemento, foi determinado atraves da curva de calibracao das barras de controle. Os resultados experimentais foram comparados com calculos computacionais obtidos pelo codigo CITATION. Os resultados apresentados neste trabalho sao uma boa contribuicao para um melhor conhecimento do comportamento neutronico do reactor IEA-R1. (autor)Additional details
