Raman spectroscopic study of uranium(VI) in calcium nitrate hydrate melt

Description

The changes in v1 symmetric vibration of UO22+ and v4 of NO3- in the calcium nitrate hydrate melt of various water content, Ca(NO3)2·RH2O, were studied by Raman spectrometry. The vibration of UO22+ in the hydrate melt was also studied by fluorescence spectrometry. The obtained Raman spectra were discussed in conjunction with the extraction results, which was the extraction of uranium(VI) from Ca(NO3)2·RH2O by a PUREX solvent. In the extraction study, an extraction trend change was observed around R=6. This would be due to a change on the circumstance of uranyl ion in the hydrate melt structure, and was discussed with Raman spectra and fluorescence spectra. (author)
