The status of Storage-Ring FEL project in NSRL

Description

An optical klystron has been designed and constructed for Storage Ring FEL in NSRL. It is installed in one of the four straight sections of NSRL storage ring. The coherent harmonic generation (CHG) experiment will firstly be carried out. The parameter of the dispersive section in the experiment is optimized to get the maximum coherent emission for third harmonic. For this purpose, the effects of electron energy spread and the power of external laser are analyzed. The specialty considerations are given for synchronization and alignment of electron beam and laser pulse, as well as the harmonic photons measurement. The external laser system and measurement system are complete. The physics design of storage ring Free Electron Laser in the oscillation mode also is begun. (author)
