Description

Full text: The parity-preserving planar QED model with spontaneous breaking of a local U(1)-symmetry presented here exhibits low-energy electron-electron bound states. The ground-state energy and correlation length of the electronic bound states (Cooper pairs) are numerically computed in the case of a high-Tc cuprate superconductor, YBa2Cu3O7. The results one obtains for its energy gap (2Δ(0)) and ab- plane correlation length (ξab) fit with some of the experimental data available in the literature. (author)
