Decay of 57Ni
Description
The decay of 57Ni to 57Co was studied by gamma ray spectroscopy using both singles and coincidence spectra. The sources were obtained with the 58Ni (Y,n) 57Ni reaction. Natural metallic nickel was irradiated in the bremsstrahluhng beam of the linear accelerator of the Instituto de Fisica da Universidade de Sao Paulo with 30 MeV electrons. The singles espectra were taken with 104 cc HPGe detector and the coincidences espectra with 27 and 53cc Ge(Li) and 104 cc. HPGe detectors. The energies of transitions that follow the 57Ni decay were measured using 56Co as standard (which was obtained by (Y,np) reaction in 58Ni) and taking into account the cascade cross-over relations. O decaimento do 57Ni para o 57Co, obtido pela reacao 58Ni (Y,n) 57Ni foi estudado nesse trabalho por espectroscopia gama simples e coincidencia gama - gama. A fonte de 57Ni foi produzida irradiando-se niquel metalico natural na forma de po, com o feixe de bremsstrahlung produzido em uma lamina de Tantalo de 2mm de espessura pelo feixe direto de eletrons, do Acelerador Linear do IFUSP, com energia de 30 MeV. Os espectros simpes foram obtidos com um detector HPGe de 104 c.c. e os de coincidencia com detectores Ge(Li) de 53 e 27 c.c. e HPGe de 104 c.c. As energias das transicoes que seguem o decaimento do 57Ni foram medidas utilizando-se as energias do 56Co como padrao (o qual e obtido por reacao (y,np) no 58Ni), e considerando-se os vinculos cascata 'cross-over'.
