Behaviour of Cs, Np(V), Pu(IV), U(VI) in pore waters of bentonite

Description
Sorption of Cs, Np(V), Pu(IV), U(VI) by bentonite from solutions is studied. Physicochemical forms of radionuclides in liquid phase and sorption mechanism are determined. It is shown that Cs is sorbed through ion-exchange mechanism. Adsorption of actinides is determined by interaction with bentonite surface hydroxyl groups in the case of pH>5; when pH value is <5 ion exchange and complexation are competitive processes. Reduction of Np(V) and U(VI) up to Np(IV) and U(IV) by Fe(II) in solution is proved by solvent extraction method
Abstract (Russian)
Исследована сорбция Cs, Np(V), Pu(IV), U(VI) бентонитом из растворов. Определены физико-химические формы нахождения радионуклидов в жидкой фазе, определены механизмы сорбции. Показано, что Cs сорбируется по ионообменному механизму. Адсорбция актинидов при pH>5 определяется взаимодействием с поверхностными гидроксильными группами бентонита, а при pH<5 ионный обмен и комплексообразование являются конкурирующими процессами. Экстракционным методом доказано восстановление Np(V) и U(VI) до Np(IV) и U(IV) в растворе соединениями Fe(II)Additional details
