The article reports on 68 patients with mostly progressed, resp. inoperable primary tumours or tumour recurrences in the region of Head-neck-oesophagus who were treated according to a therapy concept based on cell-kinetiks with the introduction of a partial synchronisation by 5-FU and timed irradiation. The good reactions of these tumours and a survival rate of 5 years of nearly 9% (6 patients, 5 of them are living without relapse) is, from todays point of view, rather due to the additive effect of cytostaticum and radiotherapy than to the synchronisation effect. With a minimal rate of complications and little side effects, the treatment was generally well-tolerated. (orig.) 891 MG/orig. 892 RDG
Abstract (German)
Ueber 68 Patienten mit meist fortgeschrittenen bzw. inoperablen Primaertumoren oder Tumorrezidiven im Kopf-Hals-Oesophagusbereich, die nach einem auf Zellkinetik basierenden Therapiekonzept unter der Vorstellung einer Teilsynchronisation durch 5-FU und getimter Bestrahlung behandelt wurden, wird berichtet. Die gute Ansprechbarkeit dieser Tumore und eine 5-Jahresueberlebensrate von knapp 9% (6 Patienten - 5 davon leben noch rezidivfrei) ist nach heutiger Ansicht weniger dem Synchronisationseffekt als der additiven Wirkung von Zytostatikum und Strahlentherapie zuzuschreiben. Bei minimaler Komplikationsrate und geringen Nebeneffekten wurde die Behandlung in der Regel gut toleriert. (orig.)Additional details
