Description

One hundred and thirtysix in-patients were included in a double-blind parallel randomized study of iopentol 300 mg I/ml (Nycomed AS, Oslo, Norway) vs iopromide 300 mg I/ml (Schering AG, Berlin, FRG) in peripheral arteriography. A bolus of 80 ml was given by a power injector, and in addition small selective injections were given as needed. No significant differenced were detected between the two groups regarding the occurence of adverse events and radiographic efficacy. No serious adverse event occured. Heat and plain in connection with the injection were the most frequent adverse events in both groups. Both contrast media appeared to be equally safe and effective for use in adult peripheral arteriography. (author). 10 refs.; 3 tabs
