Developing a flask for vitrified waste
Description
When the Windscale Vitrification Plant and Vitrified Product Store in the United Kingdom come on stream early in the 1990s, a flask will be needed for the return of vitrified high level waste (HLW) to customers in Europe and Japan. The construction of the flask is now essentially complete and inactive testing is proceeding. Its design and development are outlined. (author)
