Energy levels for an rf SQUID potential and their effect on the mean flux

  • 1. Dept. of Physics, SUNY at Stony Brook, NY (United States)

Description

We have calculated the energy levels, the wavefunctions and the mean fluxes in the zero damping limit for the potential of an rf SQUID with an applied flux Φx near Φ0/2 in order to verify the validity of various approximations used in the calculations of macroscopic quantum phenomena. The tunnel splitting was obtained for Φx = Φ0/2 in the case 1 < ΔU/hωw < 4.5. The mean flux of the SQUID was calculated using the wavefunctions and was compared to data taken in the range 0.1K<T<1.2K. (orig.)
