The Effect of Flow Loop Conditions on Stabilities of Two-phase Natural Circulation Caused by Boiling- Experimental Results

Description
The experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of the heat flux, the system pressure and the subcooling on the instability of the two-phase natural circulation in the parallel boiling channels. A 1 meter long non-heated riser above the heated section was implemented in these experiments. The heat flux was increased between 50 to 550 kW/m2. The pressure was varied between 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.5 and 0.7 MPa A and the subcooling was varied between 5, 10, and 15 K. It was observed that increasing the system pressure and the subcooling could increase the stability of the system. More importantly, for this experiment configuration with 1 meter riser length the new map that described the occurrence of the geyser ing at the system pressure higher than 0.35 MPa A was obtained
